PEACE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury pardon. Where there is doubt – faith. Where there is despair – hope. Where there is darkness – light. Where there is sadness – joy.
O Divine Master grant that I may seek Not so much to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand. To be loved as to love. To be pardoned as to pardon.
For it is in giving that we receive, pardoning that we are pardoned, and in dying that we’re born to eternal life.

TO ZING IS A GOOD TING
- Knowing without doing is like
plowing without sowing.
- Discussion – sharing knowledge
Argument – sharing ignorance - Easy Street is a blind alley.
- Minor Operation=on someone else
- Kind words heal hot heads.
NOTICE TO ALL PARISHIONERS
Enclosed in today’s bulletin is a history of the Clustering process. A complete overview was thought perhaps to be helpful.
Second, our Outdoor Mass and Parish Picnic have been moved from Aug. 8 to Aug. 15.

16th SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME
The readings for this week offer us practical advice on our Pilgrim Journey as we seek to continue
Christ’s caring presence in our 21st century.
The hospitality and the life of Abram were continuation of God’s presence in the life of his day. God then granted what was his unspoken dream – a child with Sarah. We pray that our own fidelity will warrant His consideration of granting our dreams to come true.
Paul saw the continuing of the Presence of Jesus as modeling for people of his day, how one handles life’s challenges. Do I view the sufferings and challenges that are
part of my experience as ways in which God invites me to be like Christ?
Lastly, in the Gospel, Jesus looks at the two sisters. Both are being pleasing to God – the one through
hospitality and the other through loving attention. To Martha Christ gives the advice – Mind your own business. You both do what God
wants from you. Take care of your own part of the vineyard and God will take care of His portion of the Vineyard as well.
The Christian must be in the world, but not of the world. A good description of this paradoxical position is in the Statement from
Scaramouch – HE WAS BORN WITH THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER AND A SENSE THAT THE WORLD WAS MAD. |
