Saint Patrick Parish School of Religion

The Parish School of Religion is a religious education program for Grades K - 8 for students not attending a Catholic School.

Classes are held from 9:45 to 10:45am on Sunday. Classes run from late September to May and are held in the Rectory.

Family Masses are scheduled at various times throughout the school year. Readings, music and homilies at these Masses are focused on the children's level of understanding and participation. Family members are encourage to attend.

Classes are required for preparation for receiving the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

Classes are geared to be supportive to parents in their responsibility to share the faith with their children. Parent's roles are of ultimate importance. Studies have indicated that Church and school have only 10% of the influence that parents have in the matter of sharing of their faith.

Weekly handouts which are courses designed to help parents are also provided. The present course is on the Bible. Copies of the weekly sessions are available to all parishioners on the parish web-site - stpatrickbridge.org

(Click on the "Bible Study" link)

Teacher meet with parents preparing their children to receive Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation, to offer further suggestions and address questions.

Supporting our parents in the sharing of the faith and other concerns is a key ministry of our parish. We invite parents themselves to consider becoming teachers or teachers' aides.

We also encourage those who have gone through the program to volunteer as teacher aides during their high school years. Often this ministry enables high school students to fulfill their service requirements for gradation.

Because all of us who work in this essential and rewarding ministry are proud to serve, there is no fee attached to participation in the program. We invite you to ministry rather than charge you a fee for participation.
